Similarily, VisiGel contact lens conditioner is formulated from substances that have been used extensively in topically-applied dermatologic and cosmetic products, and has been tested extensively for ophthalmic safety. VisGel contact lens conditioner may be brought to market in as little as one year, using a 510k approach.
Ocularis has several products in human clinical development. These products address large unmet needs in the marketplace. One in 5 Americans complain of night vision impairment to their eye doctor, who has limited treatment alternatives. Nyxol eye drops have been shown in a Phase 2 clinical study to improve night vision. 30 million Americans wear soft contact lenses. Up to one-half experience irritation, dryness, and discomfort with their contact lenses and use contact lens solutions. Millions of older contact lens wearers suffer from presbyopia and require reading glasses. Existing contact lens solutions (annual U.S. sales in excess of $600 million) are aqueous-based and hydrophilic, providing only brief relief from these chronic problems. VisiGel contact lens conditioner is a non-aqueous, hydrophobic product which provides day long comfort and improves reading vision.
